Having a sister is basically a double-edged sword. On one hand of the spectrum, it means you have double the amount of clothes. And on the other, it's a battle royal over said clothes. Growing up with sisters in the ‘90s basically guaranteed both.
And, while many of the cute skirts and sweaters in your sister’s closet remained off limits when she was home, it didn't stop you from trying them on the second she left the house. If you didn’t have a sister, you were inspired by the fashionistas on the big screen and idolized the style from Clueless, 10 Things I Hate About You, Cruel Intentions or The Craft.
But luckily for us it seems that lately more and more stores are being filled with ‘90s inspired trends and styles, which reminds the Yo Sox team of all of the items we used to envy in our sister’s closets as we grew up.
So we rounded up all of the items we were constantly trying to borrow from our sisters when we were younger, whether they fitted us at the time or not.
- Spaghetti strap dress
- Crop tops
- Mini skirts
- Jean jackets
- Fuzzy backpacks
- Head bands
- Plaid everything
- Knee socks
Knee socks are the epitome of ‘90s fashion. They could be worn with everything from skirts and dresses and even shorts. You can still find a lot of awesome over the knee socks in stores today, but now they’re typically in more vibrant and colorful patterns.
