Today’s the day sports fans have been waiting all year for the Toronto Blue Jays home opener. Last year, the Jays were one of the hottest tickets in Toronto, drawing in crowds from across the country and selling out their last 12 games.
Tonight the boys in blue will be suiting up for a sold out crowd at the Rogers Centre, where they’ll be taking on the Boston Red Sox.
It’ll be an interesting reunion for the Boston’s newest addition David Price, who signed a record-setting $217 million (U.S.) deal with Boston after helping the Blue Jays end their playoff drought last season, tonight’s game will be his first start against his old team.
However, the departure of ace pitcher Price has opened the door for a healthy Marcus Stroman to lead the Blue Jay’s pitching rotation.
The Jays key player this year will be no other than Josh Donaldson, the Blue Jays third baseman, who gave the club a scare when he left this Wednesday’s game with a strained calf.
But the reigning American League MVP is expected to return to the lineup tonight. Donaldson leads the Jays with two homers and four runs batted in through the season’s first four games. Donaldson will also be presented with his 2015 MVP award by former MVP winner George Bell
So in honour of the Toronto Blue Jays and tonight’s big game, the Yo Sox team suggests wearing a pair of our awesome Canadian flag inspired socks.
Go Jays go!
